First off I am so sorry I've been so bad at finding the time to update this bloge it has been like 2 weeks. So this post I will catch you up on like Aug 5- Aug 11.
My Birthday!
Yay! I'm 21!! I actually had a lab seminar that night and the lab was celebrating the end of the semester afterwards so it was like 2x celebration. We went to an izakaya near campus and got some japanese hot pot (which was really good) and I tried some shochu. Cold shochu imo tastes way nicer than the hot version. And I got to actually use a phrase I learned in survival japanese and told everyone they had to drink with "Nonde kudasai."
FriYAY/BOO
On Friyay I got conveyor belt sushi at Sushi Katsu Midori with two friends from class. I already had went here but it's reasonably priced and tastes great so I went back. Then the boo part of friday came because there was a going away party for one of the girls in my dorm who is like the sweetest person ever and she made cakes for us all. After we went to karaoke and sang for so long I didn't even want to sing anymore. That one extra year older really packed a punch HARD.
Our gods Pikachu and Cup Noodle Man
Saturday morning Danny and I got brunch at a katsu donburi place near Shibuya. It was awesome and only $10 which had like a whole set going on and super filling.
Anyways that night there was an LED Pikachu festival at night in Yokohama. So obviously I had to go for my man pika and to play some pokemon go (yes I redownloaded I'm sorry everyone plays here ok). We actually headed there early because my lab mates suggested a roller coaster called "Vanish" there. It was just okay don't tell them lol. Then we had more time to kill so we went to the Cup Noodle musuem and learned about Momofuku Ando the inventor of cup noodle. LOL in the animation it showed the creator presenting a block of the dehydrated noodles to us silly americans who aren't used to eating noodles in a bowl with chopsticks. So of course the americans are like "Hey! Why don't you put it in a cup and we can eat it with a fork!" And boom cup noodles.
Then it was pika time. The LED show was pretty good but only lasted for 30 minutes and I was really straining my calves trying to see past all the people. OH also they gave pikachu hats out for free at the station so I became god for a bit. I don't really have any good photos of it so you'll just have to take my word.
Misaki
On Sunday we took a day trip to Misaki which was about 1.5 hours south of Tokyo. There was a really nice deal called the Misaki Maguro Day trip ticket which was 3500 yen (~$35) for a round trip train ticket, unlimited bus rides in Misaki, a meal (the town is known for tuna), and a leisure activity or as the brits were saying LEH-SHA activity. And you could choose from a bunch of different restaurants and activities :0! As sweet as this deal was we were surprised that we were the only foreign tourists the rest were japanese tourists. The one downside was that it was extremeeely hot out. The water was really nice and blue though it was amazing.
We chose the marine park for our leisure activity because we THOUGHT we could touch an otter. But the otters were all hiding or sleeping :(. I was also convinced to buy icecream by an old japanese man because I was trying to figure out what flavor he had with my very terrible japanese. And he was like "Banilla" and I was like ohhhh.... :/ and then he goes "OISHI BANILLA" which means yummy vanilla lol. So I was like ok that's all the convincing I needed.
I passed out on the train back from a long day of adventure and got some Ramen in Shibuya with Danny at Ippudo Shiromaru-Base Shibuya. Really hit the spot after all the walking.
OK THIS PAST WEEKS POST WILL BE COMING OUT SOON TOO AGAIN I'M VERY SORRY BUT FORGIVE ME AND SMASH THAT LIKE.
