YOU KNOW BETTER LATE THAN NEVER. So I kind of just did not finish this page at the end of September because I was missing out on 2 weeks of blogs and then school started up and I got very busy. Lucky for me this quarantine has given me PLENTY of free time indoors. SO using my very limited memory of things that occured I will try to recreate the experience. Just pretend the post date is September 7th (heheh I think I found a way to change it on the website so it looks like I posted close to on time). It is I, back from the future.
Robot Crawl
This was my last week in lab so I was hastily working to get some tests in for my robot prototype in lab. I got it to work! The circuit board was definitely ugly because I didn't have enough time to solder the wires on a permanent board. But it came alive! :,) so proud. If you're interested in the work the report I wrote is below. The lab also had a going away party for me which was nice and full of so much food!
Local Food
Because this was going to be my last week at school I tried to eat all the local restaurants that I had been recommended but just never had got around to doing. LOL the one restaurant by my dorm all the menus were written in japanese and the waitress did not know how to speak English. So using my very bad japanese I asked for a recommendation and then I had no clue what she said back to me but then I just said "yes" ahahah. But it ended up being sashimi and tempura! Very very good. There was also a sashimi rice bowl place near my school that was super cheap. BUT ALSO all the menu was in japanese. LEt me tell you Google's picture -> translation app is so bad. But luckily the owner came out and knew how to speak english so she explained to me the options. My friend Santi had also recommended this fried chicken place to me so I just walked in one day and that was SO GOOD. I love fried chicken with all my heart.
Reminiscing
After school, I started spending extra time walking around the dorm area to soak in where I had been all 3 months and I actually got some nice photos. I'll miss Komaba! Such a cute little neighborhood where it all started.
My Family Arrived!
So my time dorming was coming to an end but not my time in japan. My mom, dad, aunt, and uncle decided to come to Japan to explore more before leaving back to the US. On Saturday my family and I visited the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden which I HIGHLY recommend. It was so beautiful and worth the 200 yen entrance fee (~$2.00).
Next, I took my family to Harajuku to explore the streets and just kind of soak in some culture.
We ended the night in Shibuya to eat some yakitori at Toritake. Unfortunately, we were all so hungry we didn't take a picture of the food before eating it all. Then they had to see the Shibuya crossing OF COURSE and Tokyu Department/Feed Store under Shibuya station to see all the fancy treats Japan does better than any country. Their display is just so beautiful :,).
Sorry I couldn't include all my crazy side stories it's hard to remember at this point haha oops. Next post soon!
More Goodbyes
Said some goodbyes to friends here over some delicious ramen and drinks in Shimokitazawa and Shibuya. Met some great people from all around the world. So hOPEFULLY in the future I'll have some couches to crash on in europe/asia.
Hu , we knows that Japanese people do like a lot of travelling and adventuring and they have also got a very good fashion choice and Harajuku fashion store is one of the best amongst them.
